Play Verto and honest conversation
About
Play Verto exists in the space between decision makers and communities, building on years of frontline experience getting the two to meet, share perspectives, and together enact change. With a special expertise in talking to hard to reach communities, and a penchant for making the engagement fun and playful, they have built Verto - a digital game that encourages players to express their views on topics that matter, allowing for meaningful data to flow into government and businesses.
Play Verto started life as a Voter Advice Application for the 2015 UK General Election. In one month, 460,000 users gave their views across 39 different policy statements, divisible by age, gender and location. Twitter called the game “Tinder for politics” and Bite the Ballot went on to influence four pieces of public policy using the results. Since 2015 they coordinate a group in Parliament around democratic participation.
Other accomplishments include partnerships with Starbucks, Uber, Tinder and Unilad to get more young people engaged with civic society. LEGO and Ashoka have recognised co-founder Michael Sani as one of the UK’s leading social entrepreneurs.
Now, Play Verto are seeking to get the hands in more and more people, encouraging participation in everything in climate change to they way our cities are organised, while allowing business and government real time data from the communities they serve.
